Cuando los amos duermen

We composed and produced the original score for Cuando los amos duermen (While the Masters Sleep), the 2023 feature film directed by Santiago Alvarado Ilarri. A darkly comic vampire story set within the world of rural Spain, the film blends horror, fantasy and comedy, creating a distinctive space between the unsettling and the absurd.

Our work involved composing and producing the film’s original score, developing a musical language that could move seamlessly between tension, atmosphere, dark humour and more emotional moments. The score was composed by Néstor Romero Clemente and produced alongside additional music by Jan Pfitzer, with Edu Prado handling the final mixing of the score.

The original music works alongside the film’s more traditional references—including Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake—to create a sound world that feels both familiar and unsettling, reinforcing the film’s playful reinterpretation of the classic vampire genre.
